With every passing day, the level of groundwater is deteriorating. This is causing a situation of severe drought. One may take up any means or methods to avoid drought, it will happen until we rejuvenate our groundwater cycle. And, the best and the simplest way to refill the groundwater is rainwater harvesting.
To promote the culture of rainwater harvesting, the Municipal Corporation of Aurangabad has come up with a lucrative offer. It is giving a 10% discount in the Property Tax to all those who have installed the rainwater harvesting mechanism in their houses.
This is just a small step but a very important one for the region that has been dealing with the draught since last 5-6 years. Rainwater harvesting can be and should be promoted everywhere. We hope the other municipal corporations and local authorities across India would take a clue from the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation and will promote rainwater harvesting in their areas as well.
